James City County Social Services is accepting applications through Aug. 15 for financial assistance for air conditioning.
The cooling assistance program helps households with at least one heat vulnerable person living in the home, such as elderly and disabled people, and children under age six, according to a James City County news release.
The program can provide help with the purchase and installation of window air conditioning units, repairs on central air conditioning units or heat pumps, as well as direct financial assistance with electrical bills to operate air conditioners and an initial security deposit for an electric bill, the release said.
Income eligible households must have to pay for their cooling expenses and include one vulnerable individual, according to the release. Other eligibility requirements may apply.
To apply for cooling assistance, call 1-855-635-4370, visit commonhelp.virginia.gov, or apply in person at the James City County Social Services Office at 5249 Olde Towne Road.
