James City County police are searching for a gunman who injured two during an event at Elks Lodge early Sunday morning.
Police responded to calls at around 12:30 a.m., reporting a disturbance and shots fired during an event held at Elks Lodge at 105 Howard Drive, according to Deputy Chief Steve Rubino.
Rubino could not confirm that the suspect fired directly into the crowd, but he said there was a group of people and shots were fired. He did not say how large the group was.
Two adult males with gunshot wounds that were not considered life threatening were transported to Riverside Regional Medical Center in Newport News, Rubino said.
The suspect fled the scene before police arrived, Rubino said. He did not have any information about the suspect's description.
The investigation is ongoing, and Rubino encouraged anyone with information to call the crime line at 1-888-LOCK-U-UP or contact the James City County Police Department at 757-253-1800.
