James City County Police and the York- Poquoson D.A.R.E. Office will host separate prescription drug drop-off events on Oct. 22.
James City County Police will hold its drop off Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the James City County Recreation Center on Longhill Road.
The program is anonymous and no questions will be asked. Prescription solid dosage medications (i.e. tablets and capsules) will be accepted. Intravenous solutions, over-the-counter medications, injectables and needles will not be accepted, nor will illicit substances such as marijuana or methamphetamines.
The York- Poquoson D.A.R.E. Office also will hold its drop off Saturday at 5338D George Washington Memorial Highway in the Washington Square Shopping Center from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Unused prescription pills and patches can be dropped off. They will not accept liquids, needles, or sharps. This service is provided at no charge and is anonymous, no questions asked.
In addition, there will be a food drive and "shred it" event, at the at the York-Poquoson drop off.
