On the roads
I would like to suggest a simple solution to people complaining about tailgators. Simply pull over and let them pass. Thank you.
There’s a very simple way of getting the Mooretown Road extension financed. Before Bob McDonnell goes to jail, he can sign a noncompetitive contract with his Australian buddies to build the road and build it and operate it as a toll road.
A while back I was touring CW with my granddaughter. We encountered a young couple, both wearing a handgun on their hip. At that moment I feared; were we safe? This couple was in such an inappropriate setting walking down DOG Street with their guns strapped to their belts that fear and revulsion was my grandfatherly reaction. Were they mentally stable? Did they purchase their guns at a gun show? Did they have proper training in the use of guns? Should I call 911? Should I leave the area immediately? In my youth I recall having to take a firearm safety class before I could get a state hunting license. The NRA provided that training. Gun safety was the honorable role for the NRA. If they would again champion that cause and resolve the gun show loophole, work to resolve the complex issue of mental illness and gun ownership, and establish training and qualifications for handgun safety and background checks, wouldn’t we all feel safer around people carrying guns?

To the person who recently bought an oak roll top desk at the Rusty Cricket Consignment Shop, I have another key for it. Please call 757-784-0413.
Big kudos to the service department at Williamsburg Ford. Special thanks to Dawn Driskill (service) and my buddy Greg Buck (sales) for going out of their way to make my life much easier while my vehicle was being taken care of. I would never think of going anywhere else for service or sales.
The person looking for a Toyota mechanic needs to call Carroll's Automotive at 564-1815. They are great and service our two Toyota vehicles and one Lexus.
Having the luck and opportunity to listen and watch Mr. Bill White in action about his exciting work at CW over the years, I have to say he is one of the most dynamic, entertaining, informative speakers I have ever enjoyed in my many years of listening to good and great speakers! His passion for America and American history, his zeal to inculcate that enthusiasm to our young citizens was so heartwarming. He just made us feel he and CW would indeed make a difference in the impact of America on Americans. We sincerely hope his avid mind and energy will continue to be involved in the challenge to keep people excited and involved in America. Thank you, Mr. White, for your years of outstanding accomplishments!
My 26-year-old heating and air conditioning systems were not being very reliable these past few years. Recently, I made an excellent choice when I called Maximum Air to have the old systems replaced. I received an estimate one day and they installed them the very next day. They were courteous and efficient. When they left, everything was shiny and clean. With these warm days and the temperature dropping at night, I’ve had a chance to try out the air conditioning as well as the heat. I recommend them to anyone needing their service. Reach them at 757-784-3181 or 757-561-7887. Thank you.
Last week, ISIS was declared the world's most dangerous terror group. So what is President Obama's plan? Continue to release more terrorist prisoners from Guantanamo Bay and close that facility. Do you suppose released prisoners will restart their terrorist careers? Why would an American president do that?
We just got our James City County semi-annual real estate bill. I knew the little chickens were not going to make sure we got our bill as we usually do before election date. It came today, on the 5th, and usually the bill would be due Dec. 5th, which would give you the full period. So they moved it a couple of days, and now it’s due Dec. 7th. So I knew that they weren’t going to make sure that everybody got the bill before the election date.
Congratulations to the Lois Hornsby Middle School Theater Department for their wins at the 2015 Virginia Theatre Association Middle School Competition. Directed by Theater teacher Christina Marshburn, the students performed “The Legend of Sleepy Hallow” and won the gold medal and Top Three award. The talented cast also won a number of acting awards. I can’t wait to see these kids perform “You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown” in the spring.
I would like to know how the Postal Service can justify no mail service on a recent Thursday to large neighborhoods. Their excuse was “an emergency had a carrier pulled.” That is inexcusable service from a government agency.
