Homeowners take note
Warning to new home owners: At 8:30 p.m., on April 12, my son and daughter-in-law had a man show up at their door claiming to represent a major security system and put a lot of pressure on them to get inside their home. There was an unmarked, light-colored van in their driveway in which he claimed his supervisor was sitting. He was dressed in a sweatshirt and a cap with the company logo, but no I.D. They called the non-emergency JCC police number and filed notice of this. I contacted the home security company and was told that this is not their procedure. Seems we have another scammy/criminal element loose in our area.
To the person looking for a special Mother’s Day brunch: I highly recommend the Williamsburg Inn. I go there every year. If you are a mother, you will be treated very special and the quality of the food is absolutely superb. So I highly recommend the Williamsburg Inn for the Mother’s Day brunch. Thank you.
In response to looking for someone to remove black roof stains: You should contact M.D.'s Exteriors at 757 342-7327. They are licensed and insured, prompt, courteous, and very reasonable. We use them every year and are never disappointed.
Congratulations to the Target store on Monticello Avenue for having an employee as terrific as Katie in the electronics department. She's assisted me several times in the last year, and each time she's been friendly, professional and focused on meeting my needs. Kudos!
A spot for Wegmans
Why don't the commercial real estate people try to get Wegmans to occupy the former Ukrop's store next to Home Depot on Mooretown Road? That would save them all the legal maneuvering in Newport News and the traffic nightmare at Jefferson and Brick Kiln plus the expense of building a new place. I'd love a Wegmans in Williamsburg!
Did you know that the word “vegetarian” is an old Indian word? It means “bad hunter.”
Wine and whine?
Why is it that some local folks go out to dinner after consuming copious amounts of wine at home, then drive to a restaurant? They then proceed to order water, and often a shared salad, or French fry entree, and complain throughout the entire evening. We appreciate all business, we truly do, but these groups have become about drinking wine at home and whining while out — enough already, be nice. [They are] often pretentious, always demanding, and looking to get whatever they can for free. They think going out and ordering a $5 salad entitles them to $10 of free bread and butter or the special — we’d like to try a sip of your wines by the glass, all of them, and order nothing.
