Shout out to Scott and Iron Bound Gym for their continual support of the Community of Faith Mission’s Emergency Winter Shelter program. The Aqua Zumbathon fund raiser was not only great fun but raised needed monies for a great cause. Thank you!
Looking for …
Look no more! You needn’t go to Gloucester to get ethanol-free, “uncontaminated” gasoline for your small engines. Instead, go to Williamsburg Airfield and buy 100 octane av-gas. Been using it for years and starts and runs them like a charm!
World War II veteran seeking volunteer assistance to form a study and discussion group to economically apply proven methods to make a patient’s entire hospital stay as safe as the operating room. Call 757-229-1176. Thank you.
Does anyone have a slide projector with a carousel tray? Please call 757-532-9882. Thank you.
I am a single mother and I am moving and therefore I am looking for a king-size bed that my kids and I can sleep in temporarily. If you don’t have a king-size bed, do you have a king- or queen-size bed that is in decent condition and is bedbug free? This is important because we have allergies and we’re looking to move by the end of July. We’ve been praying about the bed so we can sleep in it. If you have one to donate, can you please give me a call at 757-310-9557. If not, we can accept an inflatable king or queen air mattress if someone has one available. Please leave a message. Thank you.
My husband and I once again had a wonderful experience buying a new car at Williamsburg Ford on East Rochambeau Drive, (757) 229-2411. Greg Buck and Byron Lineberry were fantastic. They made sure to grant all our needs and wants in a caring and professional manner. Our second experience and they've earned forever customers.
I want to praise the middle school students who alerted the administration about the horrible "prank" during the last week of school. Because of their swift and extremely brave actions the school was able to apprehend the student(s) involved, stop the looping announcement and calm the students and staff members before extreme panic happened. I would also like to praise our amazing leaders at Hornsby Middle School for remaining calm, keeping the students safe and taking this incident very seriously. What happened at Hornsby was not funny; it was not a joke and will hopefully have legal actions to follow so no other students feel it is worth the risk to ever do that again.
War on terror
To the person who felt the need to attack President Obama for his perceived lack of action against terrorists: You can’t rewrite history to suit your political leanings. President Bush did initiate action against Afghanistan shortly after the September 11 attacks on our country. However, because of a personal vendetta against Saddam Hussein, Bush exploited the 9/11 tragedy by using it to make war against Iraq a higher priority than the war against terrorism. He misled Congress and the American people about Iraq possessing weapons of mass destruction to justify the war. By the way, the war in Iraq lasted eight years beyond President Bush’s infamous “mission accomplished” speech aboard the Abraham Lincoln. It took President Obama to take down Osama bin Laden, the master mind behind the attacks on our country.
I like the comment which is circulating right now that goes if you support the NRA's position on allowing people on the “No Fly” or “Terror Watch” lists to purchase firearms, then by extension you are a supporter of ISIS.
The GOP, which has become highly proficient at political gamesmanship, was soundly beaten at its own game by Donald Trump. The chief ingredient of this gamesmanship is character assassination. As thin skinned as the Republican candidates were, it was easy for The Donald to make quick work of them. Now he faces Hillary Clinton, who has been attacked unmercifully for over 20 years by the GOP. She has heard all the lies thrown at her for so long it doesn't faze her. The Donald has met his match. Kind of ironic!
