For the person suggesting a woman in New Town needed choke collars for her dogs. I am assuming the dog or dogs were on leashes but one managed to slip out of the collar and the woman who wrote into the Last Word almost hit the dog with her car. Rather than using a choke collar on a dog, I would suggest a martingale collar. Our dogs wear leather collars, with their tags, 24/7. When we take them for daily walks we put on their martingale collars which hang from their leashes. The martingales are not a good idea for constant wear as they have a loop which could get the dog hooked onto something, and possibly injured. The beauty of the martingale is that the dog cannot easily (if at all) slip/wiggle out of the collar if he is trying to get free of the leash.
Due to my move to another Virginia town, I am so sorry to lose Peggy and her husband who provide the best newspaper delivery service ever! Many, many thanks to Peggy and Leon.
The Williamsburg Inn Lawn Bowling Club is celebrating its 50th year in existence. Over those years, thousands of people have enjoyed the lawn bowling experience provided behind the Williamsburg Inn, both club members and guests to CW. Club members have provided free instruction and an opportunity to experience lawn bowling for CW guests on a daily basis for many years. This gives guests a hands-on opportunity to learn and play an 18th century game -- exactly the type of opportunity that CW leaders say they want guests to have. But alas, those leaders have decided to close the bowling green for the sake of providing another 30 square yards to the Gold Course for golf. So ends the 50 year tradition and this connection with history. So the future may learn from the past!
In the mail
What is happening with mail delivery? A letter from North Carolina took five days to arrive in my mailbox. It is a four hour drive from the town in North Carolina to Williamsburg. Letter must have gone to California and back.
We love Z Pizza. Our family enjoys the organic tomato sauce and the other garlic sauce that they have. It is by far and away our favorite pizza in Williamsburg.
Anyone looking for a terrific painting company for interior or exterior painting should hire Nemo's Custom Painting (757-872-0892). Nemo's painted the exterior of my house, did a great job at the agreed-upon price plus a lot of extras that included finding and replacing sections of rotted wood and siding. Nemo's crew was especially vigilant about the bird's nest in the wreath on my porch and they took great care to protect the baby birds who were nesting during the entire painting process.
Spring is over
First we were sold a bill of goods that the Arab Spring was going to bring peace and prosperity to the Middle East, and it quickly turned into the winter of discontent. Then we had the big celebration at the White House that we’ve got Bin Laden. It didn’t make a difference at all. Then we were going to save Ukraine and make sure Ukraine was fine. Ukraine is bankrupt and in disarray. Then we were supposed to stand behind the EU. EU is in disarray. And today they’re trying to save the legacy of President Obama. What is it? We were going to pull out of Iraq. That was going to leave everything stable. Didn’t happen.
Regarding the person who was upset because he or she had to visit the physician one day and come back the next day to receive treatment: There is no Medicare rule saying the doctor visit and the treatment must be on separate days. There is a rule which says the doctor cannot bill for a second visit on the same day for the same patient with the same diagnosis in the same facility. This rule requires all things done for the same patient/diagnosis on the same day be combined into one visit, which may be coded as a more complex visit depending on what was done. If the doctor wants to bill for an additional visit for the treatment, then it is the doctor who will require you to come back the next day. The additional visit will usually result in a higher billing amount by the doctor.
I find it sad that people would vote for a pathetic liar and who wouldn’t change one thing that our current president is doing, rather than someone who represents change for a better America. Are people so afraid to lose their entitlements, that the very thought of having to work for what they receive scares them to death?
In April President Obama released more bad guys from Guantanamo, Cuba. Among the terrorists was Mashur Abdallah Ahmed al Sabri, a prime participant – some say the planner - in the USS Cole attack in Yemen on Oct. 12, 2000. Seventeen of our military personnel died in that attack. Thirty-nine personnel were wounded. One (should) ask why Obama would release this guy. Easy answer: our military is a commodity to Obama. And one he dislikes in the first place. He has again demonstrated that he values these terrorists more than our own military people.
