Head of Providence Classical School receives commending resolution from General Assembly

Susan Oweis, head of Providence Classical School for the past seven years, is the recipient of a commending resolution passed by the House of Delegates during the 2014 legislative session.

The resolution was sponsored by Del. Brenda Pogge, R-James City, and state Sen. Tommy Norment, R-James City. According to the resolution, Oweis has created "a rewarding educational environment" at PCS.

"Educators like Susan Oweis are an inspiration to parents and students within our region," Pogge said in a statement. "Susan's enthusiasm is tangible, and her unwavering commitment to excellence stands as a model in the educational community. Her leadership within both the public school system and Providence Classical School highlights not only her professional expertise, but also her genuine dedication to instilling a love of learning in her students."

Providence Classical School serves students in kindergarten through 12th grade. It teaches a classical curriculum, sometimes called a "great books" curriculum, which is delivered in grammar school for the elementary grades, dialectic school for the middle school grades, and rhetoric school for the high school grades, with an emphasis also on developing Christian character. The school is located at 6000 Easter Circle in Williamsburg.
