Update: A shooting at a residence of the Vineyard Heights neighborhood in York County left one dead Sunday afternoon.

Police and medics responded to a call at 3:03 p.m. reporting a shooting at a residence in the 100 block of Burgundy Road, according to a release from Lieutenant Dennis Ivey of the York-Poquoson Sheriff's Office.

Arriving within minutes, responders found a male resident who appeared to have died from a gunshot would, Ivey said. A female resident was detained immediately.

Following investigation, the female was arrested and charged with second-degree murder and use of a firearm during the commission of a felony, according to Ivey.

The victim and suspect were the only individuals in the residence, Ivey said.

Ivey said the homicide is believed to be a domestic-related incident, although the relationship between the suspect and victim is still unclear.

Police could not release any more information about the suspect or victim until next of kin have been notified.

The investigation continues, and police will release information as it becomes available. If anyone has information regarding the crime, they should call the crime line at 1-888-LOCK-U-UP or the FB TIP LINE at 757-890-4999.

Lined with two-story homes, Burgundy Road is part of a neighborhood resident Alex Sherman described as quiet and safe.

“This street, it was beautiful,” said Sherman, who stepped outside Sunday evening to walk his dog.

Sherman has lived on the street since 2003.
