During a season of gift-giving, the American Red Cross seeks the gift of blood donations—especially throughout December when donations typically decline, according to a press release from the organization.

All blood types are needed to ensure adequate supply for hospital patients, the release said. Donors must be in good health, weigh at least 110 pounds and at least 17 years old, or 16 with written consent.

To make a donation appointment, call 1-800-733-2767, visit redcrossblood.org or download the Red Cross Blood Donor App.

Once the appointment is set, here’s what you’ll need: a blood donor card or driver’s license or two other forms of identification.

While supplies last, all donors between Dec. 22 and Jan. 8 will receive Red Cross shirt.
