Refugee crisis and Rangers: Last word, Sept.22

Authentic jersey

The basketball jersey of Reggie Miller, who is a past player of the NBA Pacers,  is an authentic and autographed jersey. Thank you.

Homefront first

CNN reported this morning that 30% of American families cannot afford to buy diapers for their infants. However, this year we’re going to spend hundreds of millions of dollars in Iran on this new deal. What’s wrong with this picture? I mean, let’s take care of Americans at home first before we take care of our enemies. Thank you.

 Help the bus drivers

I’m trying to figure out why Williamsburg/James City County public schools will not give the bus drivers access to the schools from the busing areas to use the bathroom. They have to get off of their buses, walk around to the front of the schools. Now, they had to go through that door to get the job, so why can’t they have access with their ID cards to get into the schools just to use the bathroom? They always treat the bus drivers like they’re beneath everyone else, and they do the hardest job.

Refugee crisis

On Sept. 4, I was watching Deutch World News out of Germany, and the people and government were welcoming refugees. And the comment that came out of the German government is “we can handle this.”  I watched it on Sept. 11 and the comment out of Germany is “we can’t handle this.”  When they had a couple of thousand, they thought they could handle it. Now, this week, they have 40,000 that now have come in and they’re putting the brakes on and they’re saying, “No.” Same thing happened in Greece, Austria and France. There’s no way they’re doing background checks on the people coming in, and they’re getting very concerned of who is legitimate and needs help and who might be part of ISIS.

About those Rangers

The rebuttal under “Deserving Rangers” in the Last Word questioned the statement that the standards were lowered. “Standards were lowered” was given by a 12-year Ranger. Let me ask this question:  Since you contend with that, are you a Ranger? And when did you become a Ranger and how long have you been a Ranger, since you say it’s blatantly false that President Obama lowered the standards? How longer have you been a Ranger?

Obama and Carson

I find it a little disingenuous when liberals play the bigot card/race card when you don’t like their party’s president or candidate or whatever. Yet the liberals were the most critical against Supreme Court Judge Thomas. Is it because you’re bigots? Let’s see Ben Carson become President of the United States. Why don’t you all vote for him? Just throw Hillary out of the race completely—prove that you’re not a bigot—and line up behind Ben Carson. Or, could it be that you’re a little more intelligent than that and you decide that you don’t like his policies? That’s fair—you don’t have to like his policies. And I don’t have to like President Obama’s policies.

Just right

There may have been a lot of controversy about that “Retired in Williamsburg” comedy strip, or whatever you call it. But they have got to admit that this one on Saturday, about the way the girls dress, has really hit the nail on the head. There couldn’t be something more observant, honest and truthful.

Doesn't back Webb

Concerning the editorial in Saturday’s Gazette about Jim Webb is a true presidential contender:  I must disagree with that, based upon the recent decision that Mr. Webb made in regard to Planned Parenthood, in defunding that. I think he lacks good judgment. Thank you.

Thank you

This is a senior citizen who would like to thank the children at the Williamsburg Baptist Church for the gift of little space ships and kits that were spacemen. Thank you very much, kids. It’s nice to be remembered.
