Police identified skeletal human remains as belonging to a young man during the investigation of the remains’ discovery Saturday in York. Police are treating the incident as a suspicious death.

The remains belong to one man believed to be between 18-25. Law enforcement located clothes and an identification card belonging to a white man among the remains, said Troy Lyons of York-Poquoson Sheriff’s Office.

Whether the remains show signs of trauma hasn’t been determined yet, Lyons said.

The remains, which may have spent several years at the location authorities found them Friday night near Goosley Road, aren’t believed to be related to any missing person case, Lyons said.

Further details of the man and the identification card found at the scene won’t be released until the identity is confirmed and next of kin notified, Lyons said.
