Police arrested the suspect wanted in connection with a shooting incident that left three people injured on Sunday at Elks Lodge.
Johnnie Mathew Chapman, of James City County, was arrested on Tuesday in connection with a shooting incident at the Elks Lodge at 105 Howard Drive, according to a James City County news release.
Officers responded to calls reporting shots fired at around 12:30 a.m. on Sunday, according to police spokesman Steve Rubino. Two men were hit by gunfire and transported to the hospital with injuries not considered life threatening, Rubino said. The suspect fled before officers arrived on scene.
In the course of investigating the incident, an additional victim, a man who received a grazing wound, was discovered, according to Stephanie Williams, police spokeswoman.
Williams added that it is now believed that the attack targeted the the three victims and wasn't a random incident.
Chapman, 34, is charged with two counts of aggravated malicious wounding, malicious wounding, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and three counts of use of a firearm in commission of a felony, the release states.
Chapman turned himself in at Virginia Peninsula Regional Jail. He's being held without bond.
