Williamsburg will host the annual conference of the Virginia Municipal League early next week. Each year, local government officials from around the state convene to share ideas, advice and more.

More than 200 of the state’s localities have representatives in the league. They’ll meet in Williamsburg Lodge for the conference.

State Sens. Monty Mason and Thomas K. Norment are among the dozens scheduled to speak at the conference. They’ll speak on Oct. 2 about how the Virginian economy can thrive amid the modern economic climate.

Williamsburg last hosted the conference in 2012. City Manager Marvin Collins attended last year’s conference in Virginia Beach.

“All we heard at last year’s conference was how everyone was looking forward to coming back to Williamsburg in 2017, and we look forward to not only hosting the conference, but showing them the treasure we call Williamsburg,” Collins said.
