Those who enjoy running and winning can do both this fall. Teams of four or six can combine their efforts to run the 100 miles from Richmond to Williamsburg and back in Revolution3 Triathlon's Capital Trail 100.
The Capital Trail is a tourism driver, and state officials want to extend the trail further east in years to come. On Oct. 7, the trail will serve as a place for a long relay. Runners start at 5:30 a.m. Saturday, and officials will cut the race off by the following midnight.
Organizers say teams can and should make use of a van that drops off runners at each leg of the race. Once a runner is dropped off, the van holding the remaining team members will meet the runner at the next point.
Team strategies can differ: A lone runner can run anywhere from 10.5 to 24.5 miles. Strategize with your colleagues and come out for a brisk run in October.
When: Oct. 7
Where: 3021 Dock Street, Richmond
Four-person teams pay $476 total, six person teams pay $714 total. Check out http://rev3tri.com/capital-trail-100/ for more information.
