Williamsburg man pleads guilty in child pornography case

A Williamburg man pleaded guilty to child pornography charges on Tuesday in U.S. District Court.

Edward Joseph Matish, 25, pleaded guilty to accessing with intent to view child pornography involving a prepubescent minor and faces a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison at his sentencing on Jan. 30, 2017, according to a U.S. District Court news release.

Matish was a member of Playpen, a website used to share child pornography, from August 2014 to March 2015. Matish logged into the website between October 2014 and March 2015, where he view content that depicted the sexual exploitation of children, the release stated.

Matish wrote he used the website to control his attraction to young girls, according to the release.
