Man killed in crash after losing control of pickup truck in York County

A Newport News man was killed in a single-vehicle crash Tuesday night after losing control of his pickup truck on Route 17 in York County, the Virginia State Police said.

Police said that Justin Neal Clark, 26, was driving his 2004 Chevrolet Colorado pickup eastbound on Victory Boulevard, near the intersection with George Washington Memorial Highway, when he went off the roadway.

He “lost control of the vehicle at the intersection, crossed over the concrete median into the westbound lanes of travel, and struck a tree,” Virginia State Police spokeswoman Michelle Anaya wrote in a news release on Tuesday night.

Clark was extricated from the pickup truck after the wreck. He was taken to Riverside Regional Medical Center, where he died, Anaya said.

She said that Clark, who lived in the 200 block of Lakewood Park Drive in Newport News, was not wearing his seat-belt and that alcohol use “was a contributing factor in the accident.”
