Man survives James City shooting

A 20-year-old man is expected to live after being shot in James City County on Monday afternoon, according to a police department news release.

Police responded to a shooting in the 100 block of Dehaven Court in Lafayette Square Apartments at about 12:45 p.m. They found a handgun at the scene but don't believe it was used in the shooting, the release states.

The victim was taken to Riverside Regional Medical Center in Newport News with injuries that were not life-threatening, according to the release.
