YC School of Arts to perform on national stage

Williamsburg, Virginia, – WorldStrides OnStage programs has invited the dance team from York County School of the Arts to perform at the Russell Athletic Bowl. They will join the most elite dance, cheer, and drill teams from across the country in the halftime show finale of this major college bowl game. An invitation to perform at the Russell Athletic Bowl is an honor reserved only for the most talented student performers from across the nation.
 
Under the direction of Katie Sheehan-Smith, the York County School of the Arts dance team will travel to Orlando where they will rehearse with nationally acclaimed choreographer, Mandy Moore. In their free time, they will take in the sights of Orlando.
 
Katie SheehanSmith has been directing the dance team for 6 years, and will be personally leading the York County School of the Arts group of 27 students to Orlando.

The dance program at York County School of the Arts has tripled in size under the direction of Katie SheehanSmith in the last six years. This will be the second bowl game performance for the group. Students are a part of the fine/performing arts magnet school for the York County & Williamsburg James City County school districts. Dancers are of all skill levels.
