ROWLING JUDGE: SETTLE IT. J.K. Rowling and a publisher who
wants to release an unauthorized lexicon to her Harry Potter novels should settle the copyright dispute out of court, a judge said yesterday, The Associated Press reports. U.S. District Judge Robert Patterson Jr. said the copyright infringement case was a legal close call, involving unresolved areas of American law, and almost certain to end in years of appeals.
CINDY McCAIN TO BE ON "THE VIEW." Cindy McCain is joining "The View" - at least for a day, The Associated Press reports. Republican candidate John McCain's wife will be a co-host on the ABC daytime chat show next Monday. McCain's husband has been on "The View" four times, most recently last week.
FOXY BROWN LEAVING JAIL. Foxy Brown, who is serving a 1-year sentence in Rikers Island, will be released from prison Friday in a surprise announcement, MTV News reports. Brown was originally scheduled for release May 13, after being sentenced in August 2007 for violating her parole. This past January, Brown filed for early release to seek treatment for her sensorineural hearing loss which left her partially deaf in 2006.
