What: 104th U.S. Open.
Where: Shinnecock Hills Golf Club, Southampton.
When: Practice rounds Monday through Wednesday; championship rounds Thursday through Sunday, June 20.
Who: The starting field of 156 golfers will be cut after 36 holes to the low 60 scorers (and ties), and any player within 10 strokes of the leader.
Playoff: In the case of a tie after 72 holes, an 18-hole playoff will be Monday, June 21, beginning at noon.
Course: The course is set at 6,996 yards and plays to par 35-35-70.
Defending champion: Jim Furyk tied the Open scoring record (272) and won by three strokes over Stephen Leaney at Olympia Fields (Ill.) Country Club. Furyk has a left-wrist injury and is doubtful for this event.
Eligibility: The tournament is open to any professional or amateur golfer with a USGA handicap index not exceeding 1.4. A record 8,726 entries were accepted this year.
Prize money: First-place money will be at least $1,080,000. The total purse will be at least $6 million.
Tickets: The tournament is sold out.
