AHCA is a good first step on reform

Despite the Democrats' claims that people will die under the American Health Care Act recently passed in the House, the GOP health care bill does not deny coverage to anyone because of a pre-exiting condition.

Under the AHCA, insurance companies cannot deny you coverage and your health status cannot affect your premiums.

Under the AHCA, the Essential Health Benefits, such as coverage for maternity and newborn care, mental health and substance use disorder services, would remain the federal standard.

The bottom line is the AHCA is the first in a multistep process that will give individuals and families more control and choice over their health care decisions.

The notion that the AHCA denies coverage or forces people to pay more for pre-existing conditions is totally false (even the Washington Post reports this).

I support Congressman Wittman for his support to repeal and fix the failing Affordable Care Act and encourage our Virginia Senators to put partisanship aside and support commonsense reform to the ACA.
