Carol Hume was devoted to family, friends

Carol Grazier Noël Hume was a very special person.

A former staff member at Colonial Williamsburg, Hume died last Wednesday after a lengthy illness. A professional in her own right, she devoted the last 20-plus years to assisting her late husband, internationally known archaeologist Ivor Noël Hume, who died earlier this year.

A vital and consummate helpmate, Hume was involved in a variety of pursuits. She was an excellent editor and helped Noël with his five most recent books and numerous other magazine articles.

Hume was a devoted mother and grandmother and a special friend to countless people. She profoundly loved her family and cared deeply for her friends and would go out of her way to be helpful.

The likes of her will not pass this way again. She will be sorely missed.
