Passing sales tax bill is a disgrace

Sen. Tommy Norment is a torment and worse. The law he recently succeeded in passing through the General Assembly is an absolute disgrace, a reflection of the recent tax tragedy passed by Congress.

To raise the taxes on residents of the Historic Triangle while lowering the taxes paid by its tourist hotels, restaurants, etc. — so they can spend more money on advertising — is selfish, crazy, unfair, outrageous and should be illegal. How dare the G.A. pass such a law.

Either the G.A. should rescind this law or Gov. Northam must — must! — veto it.
