Thank you from Hospice House

My fellow directors and I would like to thank Neil Griggs and his staff at Cochon on 2nd, the many patrons, volunteers and sponsors of “Moody for Hospice” for a spectacular block party on Sept. 17 to benefit Hospice House & Support Care of Williamsburg.

The event featured local wines, beers and spirits donated by the Virginia Beer Company and Copper Fox Distillery. In addition, delectable pork, seafood and other specialty items were provided by Cochon on 2nd and Old City Barbecue. Topping off the great community event was dancing to the sounds of The Michael Clark Band. A special thanks also to the sponsors of the event: Kings Creek Plantation, Williamsburg Drug, Chesapeake Bank, Taproot, The Pilates Center, Printwell, Liberty Rose B&B, Simply Connect, Consociate Media and the Health Journal.

More than $8,000 was raised to provide end of life programs and services to our community. Hospice House & Support Care of Williamsburg is a 501(c)(3) community-supported, social-model hospice that provides 24-hour care for terminally ill individuals and their loved ones when dying at home becomes unmanageable. The Hospice House itself is a spacious residence that is a "home away from home" for our guests and their families. Our support care services include a vigil program, companionship in families' homes and extensive bereavement programs for families.

Families never receive a bill for any of our services thanks to the generosity of our community. Again, thank you all for coming out to support an agency in our community that sets us apart from all others. We are grateful for your leadership and foresight.
