Five Old Dominion football games will be televised locally, including the season opener versus Hampton University, the school and Conference USA announced Thursday.
The Sinclair Broadcast Group, a national network with Norfolk affiliate WTVZ, will broadcast the Monarchs' games versus Hampton (Aug. 30, 3:30 p.m.), UTEP (Oct. 11, 8 p.m.), Florida International (Nov. 8, 3:30 p.m.) and Florida Atlantic (Nov. 29, noon).
Cox Communications will broadcast ODU's game versus Eastern Michigan (Sept. 13, 6 p.m.).
Ten of Old Dominion's football games this season are already slated for TV. Yet to be determined is whether the Vanderbilt or Western Kentucky games will be televised.
Sinclair's TV group is a partner of Conference USA and is scheduled to broadcast 30 league games this season.
In a related development, Sinclair and the Colonial Athletic Association reached a three-year agreement to broadcast conference football and basketball games on Sinclair's newly formed American Sports Network.
The agreement begins with the coming school year and runs through 2016-17. In addition to CAA football and men's and women's basketball, championship games in other conference sports will be televised live, including men's and women's soccer, volleyball, baseball, softball and men's and women's lacrosse.
The American Sports Network is a new college sports initiative that will be broadcast on a number of Sinclair stations. The CAA, Conference USA, the Big South, the Patriot League and the Southern Conference all entered into agreements with the new ASN.
The CAA will continue to have football and basketball games broadcast nationally with the NBC Sports Network and regionally with Comcast SportsNet.
