COLLEGES:

Men’s soccer:

William and Mary posted one of its most dramatic victories in recent memory, coming from two goals down in the final five minutes of regulation Tuesday night and then winning 3-2 in the second overtime period against Longwood at Albert-Daly Field.

The Lancers (2-3) scored twice in the first half and seemed en route to an upset of the Colonial Athletic Association favorites. But Ryder Bell scored his fourth goal of the season off a corner kick in the 86th minute, and just 88 seconds later, Sam Golan tied the score on a header off an Antonio Bustamante pass with 3:13 left in regulation.

W&M (2-3) controlled much of the play during the overtime periods. The Tribe won when Bustamante, a senior who was an All-American last season, drove a free kick from just outside the 18-yard box around the Lancers’ wall and by the goalkeeper in the 109th minute.

For Longwood, Sherif Maalouf scored in the sixth minute and Josh Hanratty netted a penalty kick in the 39th. …

Virginia, ranked 19th in the United Soccer Coaches poll, defeated Marshall 1-0 at Klockner Stadium on a goal by Cabrel Happi Kamseu in the 44th minute.

Kamseu, a freshman from Zimbabwe, carried the ball down the middle of the field and lined a shot from outside the box into the upper left corner of the goal.

U.Va. (2-0-2) posted its third shutout in four games. Goalkeeper Colin Shutler’s lone save of the night came in the 79th minute on a quality chance by Marshall’s Jamir Roberts.

The Thundering Herd fell to 2-3-2.

U.Va.’s Sarah Billiard had 12 kills and teammate Jelena Novakovic had 10.

Men’s golf:

William and Mary climbed five spots in the final round to tie for seventh in the 36-hole Joe Feaganes Marshall Invitational in Huntington, W.Va.

Senior Will Stewart paced the Tribe by tying for 14th at 140. Teammate Matthew Feinstein, in his collegiate debut, tied for 30th at 142.

Old Dominion, which was in third place at the Golfweek Program Challenge in Myrtle Beach, S.C., through two rounds, withdrew from the final round because of hurricane evacuation procedures.

Campbell, at 48 under par, won the tournament.

After 36 holes, ODU’s Gustav Fransson (5 under) was tied for seventh, Carter Morgan (4 under) tied for 11th and Calvin Greschner (2 under) tied for 20th.
