Williamsburg’s Elliott, Fan excel in junior tennis tournament at William and Mary

Lauren Elliott of Williamsburg shined this week in the William and Mary Junior Winter Series No. 3 tournament’s girls 12-and-under division at McCormack-Nagelsen Tennis Center.

She was 2-1 in round-robin matches and was the only player in her bracket to win five sets.

William Fan of Williamsburg took second place in boys 16s at the Level 6 tournament. He posted a 6-0, 6-4 victory over Nate McWilliams of Williamsburg before falling 6-3, 2-6, 1-0 (11-9) to Pranav Sabbu of Glen Allen in the title match. McWilliams took the consolation crown.

In girls 16s, Smithfield’s Storm Ogle lost 6-4, 6-3 in a semifinal to eventual champion Nayla Turpin of Richmond but beat Anijah Burgo of Richmond 6-4, 6-0 to take the consolation title.
