RHP Chris Archer went at least six innings for the 10th time in his last 12 starts. Although he threw 43 pitches in the third inning, he threw just 31 pitches in his final three innings pitched and retired 10 of his last 11 batters faced. He wound up permitting three runs (all on a David Ortiz homer) and six hits in six innings.

RHP Joel Peralta pitched a scoreless inning during a rehab appearance for Class A Charlotte against Dunedin on Saturday night. Peralta is eligible to return from the 15-day disabled list Monday, and he will likely be activated before that night's game against the Brewers. He landed on the DL due to an illness.

LF Ben Zobrist went 6-for-9 with three walks in the Boston series. He is batting .334 (30-for-89) since June 28. He finished 1-for-2 with two walks Sunday.

DH Matt Joyce struggled Sunday, striking out with runners on second and third and one out in the third inning and grounding into a double play on a 3-0 count in the bottom of the fifth. "He had a nice game yesterday, and it wasn't working for him today," Rays manager Joe Maddon said. "I thought it was the right call on the 3-0 count, and he just hit a ground ball to first base."

CF Desmond Jennings hit a two-run double in the third inning Sunday, accounting for both of the Rays' runs. He finished with four RBIs over the three-game weekend series against Boston.
