Jamestown softball shocks York
JAMES CITY - What a week it’s been for Jamestown’s Kristin Bunn.
On Thursday, the sophomore broke up Jen Carroll’s no-hit bid in the top of the seventh inning during a 4-0 loss to Lafayette.
On Friday she went one better, slapping an infield single up the middle that knocked in the game’s only run in a stunning upset of first-place York.
Katherine Harper reached on an error by the first baseman to lead off the bottom of the seventh inning. The junior promptly stole second and moved to third on a wild pitch.
York shortstop Stefani O’Connor got to the ball, but it was too deep to throw out Harper and a throw to first didn’t matter.
Bunn collected both Jamestown hits, also singling in the first inning. The loss was only the second of the season for York starter Ashley Prosper (10-2).
Junior Courtney Tyler (3-4) scatterd five hits in seven strong innings of work to earn the shutout, her second white-washing in a week..
