Basketball roundup: Walsingham boys, girls advance in state tourney

Stephanie Seaman scored 21 points and Ashley Barnes had 17 in the Walsingham Academy girls basketball team's 56-41 win Tuesday over Eastern Mennonite.

No. 7 Walsingham advances in the VISAA Division II tournament to visit No. 2 Nansemond-Suffolk Academy on Wednesday.


Walsingham Academy 75, Hargrave Military 53: Walsingham Academy advanced to the quarterfinals of the VISAA Division II tournament led by 25 points from Mark Seaman.

Richard Washington had 19 points and Kai Brown had 14 for No. 7 Walsingham, which will visit No. 2 Virginia Episcopal on Wednesday.

Williamsburg Christian Academy 64, Fuqua School 45: WCA advanced to the quarterfinals of the VISAA Division III tourney and visits Roanoke's North Cross on Wednesday.

Andre Brown led the Eagles with 25 points and Xavier Green had 12 points, 18 rebounds, eight assists, and three blocks. Ryan Flanagan added 15 points.

2A regionals postponed

The Bruton boys and girls basketball teams were each scheduled to play Tuesday in the VHSAA Group 2A East regionals but those games were postponed because of snow.

No makeup dates have been announced.
