Prep roundup: Jamestown volleyball wins Bay Rivers District

Jamestown’s girls volleyball team took home its seventh straight Bay Rivers District championship with a win against Warhill on Tuesday night.

Jamestown defeated Warhill in straight sets, 25-19, 26-24, 26-24. The Lions fell to 14-8, 13-4.

Emma Schriner led Jamestown with 18 kills. Madison Kolda led the team with 28 assists and tied for a team-high five digs. Maddie Pettengell had five kills, three aces and seven digs.

Two days later on Senior Night, Jamestown capped off its undefeated district season with a 25-12, 25-6, 22-25, 25-9 win against Tabb (7-11 BRD). The Eagles improved to 21-2, 18-0.

Emma Schriner led the team with 27 Kills, seven aces and 10 digs. Emma Yaugo finished with 13 kills.

For Tabb, Gabby Gardner and Lainey Arneson had four kills apiece. Sydney Jacobsen had five blocks. …

Also on Thursday, Grafton swept Lafayette 3-0, Bruton beat Smithfield 3-0, New Kent beat Warhill 3-1 and York swept Poquoson 3-0.

Field hockey

Walsingham Academy finished its regular season on Tuesday afternoon with a 5-0 win over St. Margaret’s.

The Trojans (7-6-4) now await their official seeding for the Tidewater Conference of Independent Schools Tournament, which begins Oct. 31.

Walsingham goalie picked up her seventh shutout of the season and Martha Page Norsworthy led the team with two goals. …

Jamestown and York will play on Monday. The Eagles will face Warhill and the Falcons square off against Lakeland.

Boys basketball

Lafayette won the Boo Williams Fall League Championship on Thursday.

Keyshawn Jefferson led the team with 18 points. Timmy Woollum also had 16 in the Rams’ 51-50, double-overtime victory against Tallwood.
