SOUTHAMPTON – Lafayette High's postseason aspirations ended Thursday night with a 59-55 loss to New Kent in the Colonial Conference 25 tournament semifinals at Southampton High School.
Blake Kelley scored 23 points to lead the Trojans. Micah Scorsone had 11 points, all but two of them from behind the 3-point arc. Jason Whitlow finished with eight.
Lafayette (10-12) led 31-23 at halftime before a 19-12 spurt by New Kent trimmed the lead to 43-42. The Trojans led by one point with 43 seconds left and held on for the win.
Mark Rivera scored 25 points to lead Lafayette. C.J. Miller finished with nine points and Bryce Losty added eight.
Warhill — Kasmeir Smith scored 27 points as No.1 seed Park View-South Hill defeated Warhill 96-70 Thursday night in the Colonial Rivers 25 tournament semifinals in Southampton.
The Green Dragons outscored the Lions 36-20 in the second quarter to take a commanding 50-33 lead.
Matt Brown scored 19 points, including a trio of 3-pointers. Noo-Noo Patterson added 11 points and Nigel Stanley added 10 to give Park View-South Hill four players in double figures.
Devonte Dedmon scored a game-high 32 points for Warhill. The senior finished his career with 1,551 points. Da'Shawn Cooke had 13 points and Keron Dedmon finished with seven.
