DaSha Hill placed in three events to lead Bruton (71 points) to a third-place finish this week in the Group 2A East regional meet at the Boo Williams Sportsplex. Maggie Walker took first, followed by Brunswick.
"It was a little different competing with different athletes from other schools that I have never competed with before," Hill said. "Overall, it was a great meet. I got the meet record for my conference in the 55 meters and it felt great to win that event. We have a small team and we're trying to build it up. Hopefully we will have success at the state meet."
Hill won the 55 meters in 7.52 seconds. She posted a personal best in the long jump (16-4) to finish second. She also teamed with Rachel Brotherton, Raven Finley-Flowers and Carley Shannon to finish second in the 4x400-meter relay (4:32.12).
"DaSha brings a lot of energy to the track," coach Mark Tompkins said. "She has a great attitude toward track and she is always looking out for her teammates. She will be a key player in helping our girls, hopefully, have a Top 5 team at states."
