The Greensprings Gators won their fifth consecutive Virginia Peninsula Swim Union Championships Meet Sunday at Fort Eustis, following a third-place finish in the regular season standings of the league's top division.
Greensprings totaled 1,103 points and the second-place Kingsmill Sharks finished with 1,086.5 points. The regular-season champion Kingswood Klams were third with 940.5 points.
Joelle Vereb of the First Colony Flyers set three meet records on the way to winning three events in the girls 15-18 age group. The former Jamestown swimmer and incoming Virginia Tech freshman won the 100 individual medley (1:05.83), 50 freestyle (27.34) and 50 breaststroke (33.78).
Flynn Crisci of the Ford's Colony Killer Whales, Ryan Griffith of the Coventry Sailfish and the Kingswood Klams' Elizabeth Gregory each set meet records while winning three races.
Other triple winners included Kallyn Buirski (11-12, Greensprings Gators), Elijah Fields (11-12, Queens Lake Eagles), Mary Gregory (9-10, Kingswood Klams), Jacob Sprigg (13-14, Windsor Forest Frogs), Kyleigh Tankard (13-14, Coventry Sailfish).
Crisci broke the 15-18 boys 50 breaststroke in 29.93, Griffith the 9-10 boys 50 free in 30.70 and Gregory the 8-and-under 50 fly (17.47).
