Tribe welcomes Rhode Island for nonconference baseball series

Massachusetts-Lowell (8-6) won 13-6 in baseball at William and Mary, thanks to the River Hawks' six-run fourth and a four-run ninth.

Ryder Miconi and Charles Ameer had two hits apiece for the Tribe (9-7), while Ameer and Matthew Trehub drove in two runs each.

W&M closes out its three-game nonconference home series with Rhode Island 4 p.m. Saturday and 1 p.m. Sunday.


Playing in its third consecutive road game, W&M was edged at Old Dominion, 13-10, on Wednesday evening.

The Tribe (2-6) led by as many as four goals in the second half, but ODU (4-3) closed the game with a 7-1 run to secure the comeback non-conference win.

W&M owned a 14-10 advantage in draw controls but was edged in ground balls (24-22) and committed four more turnovers (24-20).

Junior Abby Corkum led the Green & Gold offensively with three goals, while senior Lindsey Jenks posted three points (2g, 1a) and a team-high four draw controls with two ground balls.
