W&M announces nonconference men's hoops slate

William and Mary announced its nonconference men’s basketball schedule, which will start with an 8 p.m. game Nov. 10 at High Point, where coach Tony Shaver starred in high school.

The Tribe has five non-league games at Kaplan Arena, starting with Hampton on Nov. 15.

For the fourth straight season, W&M faces a pair of Power Five conference opponents, traveling to Ohio State (Dec. 9) and Texas Christian (Dec. 22).

In total, the Tribe's Division I nonconference opponents won nearly 56 percent of their games and averaged 18 wins last season.

Women’s soccer

Kallie Peurifoy hit a free kick into the left corner with 5:05 left, giving Virginia Tech (4-0-1) a 1-0 home victory Thursday over William and Mary (4-1).

The Tribe hosts Wisconsin 1 p.m. Sunday.

Men’s gymnastics

William and Mary head coach Mike Powell announced the hiring of Bo Morris as an assistant coach.

Morris has been in the coaching profession for more than 30 years and helped numerous gymnasts compete at the highest levels of the sport, including U.S. national teams. He most recently was the head coach at the Houston Gymnastics Center in Texas.
