Walsingham Academy’s girls cross country team clinched a third straight state Catholic championship behind a strong team effort on Tuesday afternoon.
Frankie Riggs, Clare Kinney, Delaney Riggs, Catherine Schumacher and Grace Vidlak all finished in the top 20 overall and combined for 54 points.
The meet was held at Eastern State Hospital.
Bishop Ireton finished second with 61 points and St. John Paul the Great finished third with 75 points.
Frankie Riggs, Kinney, Schumacher and Delaney Riggs all earned all-state Catholic honors with their performances.
Walsingham’s boys team finished in fourth place at the meet.
Jake Lobash, Patrick Murphy, Mathew Brause, Jack Shonka and Ethan Ricker all placed for the team.
Lobash, who finished 10th overall, earned all-state Catholic honors for his top-15 finish.
Nest up for both teams is the Tidewater Conference of Independent Schools Championship meet on Friday, Nov. 3 at Bells Mill Park in Chesapeake.
