Warhill volleyball team to receive national honor

JAMES CITY -MaxPreps, a web-based venture that focuses on high school sports, will honor Warhill High School's volleyball team during a ceremony Friday morning at the school.

The Lions will be presented with the Army National Guard national ranking trophy. It's part of MaxPreps as part of the fifth annual MaxPreps Tour of Champions. MaxPreps ranked Warhill No. 63 in the nation, and it is one of 10 schools honored on the tour.

Warhill beat Cave Spring 20-25, 25-13, 25-19, 25-18 in the Group 3A state championship last fall, the first state team title for the school in any sport. The Lions compiled a 30-1 record. According to a press release, MaxPreps ranks more than 17,000 varsity high school volleyball teams.
