Jamestown wraps up Bay Rivers golf title; Eagles volleyball 2nd at major tourney

Jamestown wrapped up a Bay Rivers District golf title Monday at The Hamptons in the last of eight regular-season matches.

The final round was shortened to nine holes because of weather and Jamestown finished with a 155, besting second-place New Kent by five shots.

For the season, Jamestown topped New Kent by 156 strokes and William Bell finished with the top individual average at 73.85.

Volleyball

Jamestown competed in the Endless Summer Volleyball Tournament Saturday, finishing second of 16 teams in the highest division of the tourney.

Jamestown defeated 6A Western Branch 25-13,25-7; 5A Salem of Virginia Beach 25-14,25-12; 7A Hoover High School of Alabama 25-21,25-21; 6A Kellam 25-17,25-23.

The Eagles fell to 5A Princess Anne of Virginia Beach in the championship match 25-18, 25-18 for their first loss of the season.

Ellie Popelka and Maria Esch were both selected to the all-tourney team.
