Warhill walks off with baseball win over Lafayette; Rochard dominant in softball opener

Ethan Currin’s two-out base hit in the bottom of the ninth inning drove in Azriel Davidson from third base to lift Warhill to a 3-2 season-opening baseball win Thursday over Lafayette.

Ryan Creecy earned the win for Warhill, throwing 3 2/3 innings in relief of starter Sam Rochard.

Davidson got on with a walk before Blake Sawyer moved him to third with a single.

Warhill led 2-1 before Lafayette leveled in the top of the sixth with Chase Bauer's double.

Virginia Tech recruit Keely Rochard fanned 18 batters in a no-hitter at home against Lafayette Thursday.

Rochard, who allowed one walk, also homered and was 3 for 4 at the plate in the 9-0 win that was tight for about four innings.

Kieran McClure, Emma Harris, Lindsey Davis, and Kara Green each had two hits for the Lions.
