West Point students performing 'Into the Woods'

West Point High School music and drama departments are preparing for the upcoming spring musical, "Into the Woods."

The Tony Award-winning musical, opened in 1987 on Broadway; an off-Broadway version of the production opened in 2015. .

The story reappeared in the public's eye after a two-decade hiatus when "Into the Woods" was made into a movie in 2014 starring Meryl Streep, Emily Blunt and Johnny Depp.

"Into the Woods" is a magical, imaginative adventure through the use of fairy tales and a very challenging piece for our students to take on. Students from 8th through 12th grades have been rehearsing since early January, according to a school news release.
