VCU grows with Institute for Contemporary Art opening

Richmond’s art scene continues to grow with the city’s latest gallery, the Institute for Contemporary Art at Virginia Commonwealth University, which opens with a block party Saturday. The college designed the spot to capitalize on the way in which contemporary art can spark dialogue, something on which universities and the world at large thrive.

“It’ll bring in art and artists from around the world,” said Joe Seipel, the institute’s interim director. “The students will learn. The entire university will be able to see this artwork and let it challenge them.”
