Sheri Morris’ taste buds remember a distinct flavor whenever someone mentions Publix. The store brand orange juice is a favorite of the James City County resident’s.
“We used to bring home a couple gallons in our cooler when we vacationed in Florida,” Morris said. “It tastes better than any other.”
Publix announced Nov. 27 it will open a new store at 4660 Monticello Ave., the site of a former 69,000-square-foot Martin’s Foods, which closed in July.
A Publix spokeswoman declined to say when the store will open, although the company typically renovates the space before moving in, James City economic development event coordinator Laura Messer said.
