Business was good on Small Business Saturday in the Historic Triangle's locally owned stores, but the holiday can't take all the credit.
Some store owners say the day's brisk business might be more thanks to an established culture of buying local.
"You get to know merchants. They become family and friends," said Brittany Rolston of the shop-local experience. Rolston is the owner of The Shoe Attic, which is a stone’s throw from Colonial Williamsburg. The store participated in the holiday with a 10-percent-off sale.
