Williamsburg Money taken from restaurant workers' purses in Merchants Square

Williamsburg Police responded to a restaurant in the 400 block of Duke of Gloucester Street on Aug. 22 at around 9:30 p.m. in connection with a theft, a police spokesman said. Officers spoke with several victims who said they had money taken from their purses while they worked. Management-provided video identified the suspect as 24-year-old Damien Jerrod Piker of Surry.

Warrants obtained on Aug. 23 charged Piker with two counts of burglary and three counts of larceny. The warrants haven't been served at this time, a police spokesman said. Williamsburg Police doesn't release names of businesses...
