Police: Yorktown man charged after breaking into woman's apartment, abducting, strangling her

The York-Poquoson Sheriff’s Office has charged a York County man with abduction and aggravated assault after police say he broke into a woman’s apartment, grabbed her by her hair, dragged her down a set of steps and strangled her.

Eric D. Lewis, 30, has been charged with abduction, aggravated assault by strangulation, assault and battery, breaking and entering with intent to assault, public intoxication, aggravated assault on a police officer, resisting arrest and loitering, according to York-Poquoson Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Shelley Ward.

On Aug. 19 at about 7:30 p.m., sheriff deputies were called to the 200 block of Barham Boulevard for a fight, Ward said.
