The American Red Cross will host the 11th Annual Williamsburg Community Blood Drive on Aug. 21.
Currently, the need is great.
"Right now, we have a five-day blood supply locally," said Jeremy Turnock, senior account manager for the Red Cross' Mid-Atlantic Region. "There is an urgent need for all blood types."
The setback is due to summer, Turnock said, when many people are traveling and there's an absence of students.
The American Red Cross supplies close to 40 percent of the country's blood supply, according the organization's website.
Homemade baked goods and raffle prizes will be available at the local drive....
