JAMES CITY COUNTY - A Skiffes Creek townhouse with extensive damage due to a fire Saturday was completely destroyed and will have to be removed, according to James City County's director of building safety and permits Tom Coghill.
The two homes beside the townhouse where the fire originated suffered far less damage, Coghill said, because they were protected by firewalls.
"I believe those two units will be repaired in a reasonable amount of time," Coghill said.
Coghill said the destroyed townhouse must be secured against entry as soon as possible, and that he had begun the process to make that happen.
