State police investigating after person hit by train dies in Williamsburg

A preliminary investigation into the death of person who was hit by a train in Williamsburg Thursday night indicates that the death was likely a suicide, a Virginia State Police spokeswoman said. 

The incident happened in the 1200 block of Lafayette Street shortly after 9:30 p.m., spokeswoman Sgt. Michelle Anaya said.

State police could not provide details about the person's age or gender Friday morning.

"Identification was unable to be made at scene," Anaya said.
