SUV driver charged in accident involving Williamsburg police

1:45 p.m. update:

The driver of an SUV involved in an accident with an unmarked police car Friday morning has been charged with reckless driving.

The SUV attempted to turn into a business around 8:15 a.m. in the 3000 block of Richmond Road, cutting off a Williamsburg police vehicle that was travelling eastbound in the righthand lane, according to Maj. Greg Riley of the Williamsburg Police Department.

The impact of the collision rolled the SUV onto its side. The driver of the SUV was taken to Sentara Hospital after the collision, but has since been cleared from there without injuries, Riley said.
